Merry Wang holds an MSc in Neuroscience from University College London. During her master’s project, she focused on developing quantitative indices of consciousness inspired by Global Neuronal Workspace theory, using graph-theoretical approaches to characterize large-scale brain network organization.
In her PhD, co-supervised by Nathan Faivre and Michael Pereira, she investigates the neural correlates of consciousness using intracranial sEEG in epilepsy patients undergoing anesthesia. Her project combines high-gamma activity analyses in auditory cortex with large-scale thalamocortical connectivity measures, aiming to identify markers of conscious processing during anesthesia-induced unresponsiveness.
